Local: Providing a Safe and Fun After-School Program for Vulnerable Children in West Boca

Calvary Chapel West Boca sits near several school bus stops where young children are on their own after school and families are in need of support. Over the past year, the need for a safe and fun after-school program has become a clear calling felt by the church and community leaders. God has given us a vision to start this program on our West Boca campus! Because of recent neighborhood challenges, we’re excited to partner with this special community to be a light in their neighborhood and reach new families with the gospel. This program will provide elementary through high school kids a place to have fun, get tutored, build relationships with mentors, learn about Jesus, and stay secure. Global: Developing Christ-Centered Assisted Living Facilities in Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia is an island off the coast of Italy where Calvary’s missionary partners, Greg and Romina Cherven, are currently serving a large community of vulnerable elderly people. Out of a population of 1.6 million people, over 30% are 70 years or older. In a place where you can find an 80-year-old daughter taking care of her 96-year-old mother, there’s a huge need to provide a space for them both to be cared for. Greg and Romina have a dream to plant faith-based assisted living facilities where the elderly can be treated with empathy, dignity, respect, and learn about a relationship with Jesus. Your generosity will help renovate an old hotel, build a sustainable ministry with a cafe and garden, and supply the first facility with the necessary equipment and loving care-givers.

Local: Fighting Homelessness in South Florida
Did you know that Broward County has over 7,000 individuals experiencing homelessness and more than 900 families who need permanent, self-sustainable housing? You can be part of the solution this Christmas. This gift will allow HOPE South Florida, Calvary’s partner, to provide services, including meals, showers, health care needs, urgent family housing, and much more. Your generosity to this year’s Birthday Gift for Jesus can help change the trajectory of a family and break the cycle of homelessness!

Global: Developing After-School Program for At-Risk Children in Romania
Romania is a European country that sits at the border of Ukraine and Hungary, and it’s currently the home of Calvary’s missionary partners, Karen and Cornell Bucur, who have been planted there since 2003. This year, through Birthday Gift for Jesus, you can help develop an after-school program for at-risk children and youth in the rural village of Tinca. This program will help the children in this community increase their academic success and guarantee their rights to a high-quality Christian education. Your gift to this year’s Birthday Gift for Jesus can change a child’s life forever and give them the education they deserve.

In 2021, God used your gift to serve those who serve us by providing a Mobile Relief Unit to first responders in South Florida. This gift also went towards funding a school and providing high-quality Christian education in Cartagena, Columbia. Through this year’s Birthday Gift for Jesus, we’ll shine the light of Jesus into the lives of those in crisis and those serving during crisis through a first responders mobile relief unit. This mobile care and refreshment unit that can be deployed when needed will be equipped with showers and toilets to serve and meet needs during times of crisis.

Global: Building a School in Colombia
There is tremendous need in Cartagena, Colombia, for the gospel, and the Lord has positioned Calvary Chapel Cartagena to change the city forever. As one church in many locations, this year’s global initiative is to convert a former shopping mall in the center of the city into a school and church building, allowing us to bring Christian education, ministry, care, and hope to the people!
Local: New EMA Centers and Assistance Program
You can be part of creating a new legacy for generations to come! Through this year’s Birthday Gift for Jesus, you’ll help fund two brand new EMA (Every Mother’s Advocate) crisis centers for South Florida moms. These centers will help prevent family separation by providing moms in crisis with support, education, and advocacy. This gift will also go towards creating a new program that will focus on serving moms in our county jails and provide them with support, stability for their kids, and help in creating a better future for their families.

Global: AGILE Launching in Italy and Kenya
Your generosity can change the trajectory of a child’s future from poverty to sustainability. Your Birthday Gift for Jesus partnership will go towards the AGILE program that helps impoverished youth learn about God’s plan for their lives and how to develop businesses to support their families and break the cycle of poverty. This program is taking off in Kenya and Italy, and your gift will help spread this to thousands of students there and beyond.

2019 was a year of incredible generosity for our church, and we were so grateful to see firsthand the fruit of it. Through your Birthday Gift for Jesus donations, we gave over $200,000 to bless various ministries, such as providing care and sharing the gospel with refugees through the Made Clean Project. This initiative allowed us to minister to over 65 refugee camps and provide portable laundry stations, giving them access to clean clothes, clean water, and a tangible act of God’s love for them.

In addition because of your generosity these funds also provided opportunities for Calvary to help rebuild the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church facilities destroyed by Hurricane Dorian.

In 2017, we had our very first Birthday Gift for Jesus offering, in which we were able to show love to many displaced people across the world by providing portable laundry locations through the Made Clean Project. This project provided an opportunity for those refugee families to be able to wash their clothes and have access to clean water. Through these donations, we were able to share the love of Jesus and provide for over 10,000 people in need.
