Get Ready to Work!
What comes to mind when you think about a date night with your sweetheart? Does it include flowers and whispering sweet nothings to each other? Candlelight dinners? Going to the movies and sharing a box of popcorn and a supersized soda? It all sounds so sweet and loving. But what about a date night that involves labor—something that can possibility make you sweat?
Well, here’s a challenge for you and your spouse this month: Have a date night that involves work! Work? Yup, work! Remember that saying, “Anything worth having is worth working for”? Our marriages are worth working for! Instead of doing your normal date night, how about changing it up and doing an activity that involves the both of you laboring together.
Date Night Ideas for September
Challenge 1: Two Is Better Than One Rent a tandem bike or a kayak for two! This can be a challenging experience because it will take both of you to peddle the bike or row the boat. It will also challenge both of you to communicate and listen to each other in order to reach your goal—to not fall over or tip over! You’ll be surprised how much fun you’ll have and how accomplished you’ll feel at the end.
Challenge 2: What’s Cookin’, Good Lookin’? If physical activities aren’t your thing, how about taking a cooking course or preparing a meal together at home? Making a homemade meal—from scratch!— will challenge you both to follow instructions and work together as a team. And the finished product is a delicious dinner for two!
Challenge 3: The Key to My Heart Do you like playing games or solving puzzles? Try going to an Escape Room for your date night! If you’re not familiar with this, the premise of the game is that you and your partner are locked in a room and you have to figure out the clues together in order to “escape.” But here’s the kicker: There’s a time limit. So, this challenge involves a lot of teamwork, communication, and patience to solve the clues together so you can escape. Let the games begin!
