Good Fruit Week 7 Study Guide

Begin your time today by reading Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Reflection Questions

  1. How does the fruit of the Spirit help in understanding what God is like?
  2. Read John 18:23, Acts 16:37, Matthew 11:29, and Romans 12:19. Can you think of a time when you’ve exercised gentleness or saw it in the actions of someone else? What was the result of it?
  3. What are some common misconceptions about gentleness and how should it be understood?
  4. What does your online conduct say about you? What about the way you talk to or treat people in stores, restaurants, or in traffic? Are you being wise in the way you act toward those who aren’t believers? Are you being gentle, full of grace, and seasoned with salt?
  5. How can you exercise your freedom in Christ in self-control with the mindset of glorifying the Lord and serving others humbly in love?
  6. How does God use your self-control and godly living to draw others to having an epiphany?
  7. How can you better practice walking in gentleness and self-control today? How can you display it to others?

Memory Verse

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”—Titus 2:11–14 (NIV)

Prayer Guide

Father, I desire to be used by You to draw others to Your kingdom. By Your Spirit, help me live the kind of life that demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit, that is self-controlled, upright, and godly, and that will bring people closer to Your Son. Amen.

This Week

Think about someone whose example and godly life helped draw you to salvation. If you’re able, share an encouraging word with them about how their life demonstrated the fruit of the Spirit and how the Lord used them to minister to you!
