1 Corinthians 14 Study Guide

Reflection Questions

Read 1 Corinthians 14

  1. How do spiritual gifts profit the whole church? How do they benefit those outside the church?
  2. Why is the manner and setting in which we use our gifts important?
  3. Why did Paul use the example of musical instruments in talking about prophecy?
  4. Why is it crucial that a message in tongues be interpreted?
  5. For what reasons should we desire spiritual gifts?
  6. What makes order essential to worship?

Memory Verse

“What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.”—1 Corinthians 14:26 (NIV)

Prayer Guide

Father, thank You for choosing to use me as a vehicle to advance Your kingdom here on Earth. I am humbled and amazed that You could use me in the power of Your Holy Spirit to reveal more of who You are to others. Holy Spirit, I ask for Your gifts and that I would use them humbly and lovingly to build up Your Church! Amen.
