Your King

“Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His Kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.”—Daniel 7:14 (NKJV)

How are you recovering from the election last fall? Whether you are pleased with the person in office or not, the new president has been inaugurated. Over the next four years, this individual will influence many decisions, affecting the lives of Americans for decades to come.

However, we have good news! We have hope in the One who will not disappoint. We have a King who reigns from heaven forever, and He will never be voted in or voted out! His plans and agenda are what we long for and what we need. He promised long ago that in due time His kingdom will reign forever and ever over this earth. Hallelujah!

Here are some things we can look forward to when our King reigns:

            1. He is never voted in or out of power.

            2. His authority is absolute and His law is perfect.

            3. He owns everything.

            4. He chooses who will be a citizen of His kingdom.

            5. As His citizens, we will represent His glory and serve Him.

Who is the King?

Psalm 24 describes Him as strong and mighty, the Lord of hosts, and the King of glory. The prophet Jeremiah says He is all-powerful, and nothing is too hard for Him. The Gospel of John says He is our Savior and our friend. And when Nathaniel, one of the 12 disciples, met Jesus for the first time, he declared Jesus to be the Son of God and the King of Israel.

What Does He do?

He rules over heaven, the earth, Israel, and you. His mercy is over all of His works.

We are His.

You were created by and for Him. He calls you a citizen of heaven, and He chose you to be in His kingdom. He has called you to serve Him as one of His.

Imagine the leader of a nation inviting you to meet with him. How humbling and thrilling would that be? Our Creator-King has given you access. He wants you to enter His presence and come to His throne of grace to receive grace, mercy, and help at any time.

David, the psalmist, calls out for us to open the gates and doors of our hearts for Him. You are called to seek Him. You are to be the generation that seeks His face. He is the King and deserves honor.
