April Date Night Challenge

Daily Dosage of Manna

“And when the dew had gone up, there was on the face of the wilderness a fine, flake-like thing, fine as frost on the ground. When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, ‘What is it?’ For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, ‘It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat’ . . . Morning by morning they gathered it, each as much as he could eat.”—Exodus 16:14–16; 21 (ESV)

In Scripture, we find that while the Israelites were in the wilderness God sustained them through a supernatural food called manna. It appeared every morning for the people to gather for their daily food. It was heaven sent. For 40 years, they relied on God to sustain them on this heavenly food. Just like the Israelites that relied on God’s supernatural provisions, we too need that same supernatural food in our marriages. On a daily basis, we need to take in the heavenly food to help us sustain a godly marriage.

You might be thinking: But what does that even mean? What is this heavenly food or manna we need to gather every day to sustain us? It is the Word of God and prayer. We are called to seek Him every day so we can be filled with the love and grace that is needed in a godly marriage. Without this daily allowance of manna, our hearts can grow hardened towards one other. Just as the Israelites grumbled and sinned against their God because they chose to do things their own way, we too can fall into the same attitude of heart. Let’s remember that taking manna every day will keep the grumbling away.

This month, the Married Couples Ministry would like to partner with you in gathering your daily manna to help you build a better us with your spouse. Here are three date night challenges to help you create intentional moments this month!

Challenge 1: Schedule an In-home Couples Massage
How fun would it be to have private couple massages in your own home? Schedule a masseuse to come to your home to give you and your beloved a massage. You can set up your bedroom with candles and soft romantic music. Plan to have dinner made or delivered so when the massages are done all you have to do is walk to your dining room and enjoy your favorite meal. Don’t forget the candles and music!

Challenge 2: Night Bike Ride
Plan an evening taking a bike ride at your favorite beach. You can watch the sunset and enjoy the outdoor weather. Find a cute outdoor café or restaurant to enjoy dinner or coffee with dessert. Spend the time enjoying each other’s company and the beauty of God’s creation.

Challenge 3: Mystery Night Date
This one could actually be two dates in one month. How fun would that be?!
Take turns planning a date night—but it has to be a mystery to your spouse. You can’t tell them where or what you’ll being doing. All they need to know is the time and what to wear. And if you want, you can give them little hints a few days before to keep the excitement going. Enjoy!

We want to hear from you! E-mail MarriedCouples@CalvaryFTL.org about your date night story! Share your dates on social media by tagging your photos with #SoFloDateNight to encourage other couples with what the Lord is doing in your marriage!
