Frequently Asked Questions

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christianity. Alpha (prior to the COVID-19 pandemic) typically would be ran in churches, bars, coffee shops and homes all around the globe. Alpha has either eight or eleven sessions (depending which group you join) and includes a short talk and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts and ask your questions. Our live talks are designed to encourage debate and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, honest and informal environment. Our online and VR offerings will do much of the same. For more information, go to alphausa.org.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for anyone who is not a follower of Jesus, or doesn’t know what they believe, and who wants to explore the Christian faith in a friendly, honest, and informal environment. People attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints. Participants come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus. Some people want to get beyond religion and find a relationship with God that really changes a life. Others come for the close, long-lasting friendships that are often built during the Alpha course. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith or simply aren’t able to articulate why they believe what they believe. For more information, go alphausa.org

How does it work?

This online Alpha group will meet for eight sessions of discussions and at the end you can share your thoughts. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem. There’s no pressure, no follow up and no charge.

Are there any expectations?

No pressure.
No follow-up.
No charge.

All Alpha groups are free for anyone to attend. There will not be any unwanted follow-up or any pressure to join or do anything. It’s simply a place to ask and explore questions around the ideas of God, faith, and Christianity.
